  1. Meeting Irondad, the Legend

    bobskoot &bull Jul 26, 2010

When I first started Blogging the intent was to showcase the scenery of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest, which I have defined in my mind as BC, WA OR. Photography had always been my hobby ever since the early days when I was one of the school photographers. Belonging to car clubs we often went away for the weekends in various places on both sides of the border. I like driving vacations and it is more about the journey and the less travelled roads rather than a specific destination. When I had my Jeep and Pick up truck, we… Full Story »

  2. Downtown Bend & Crocs

    bobskoot &bull Jul 23, 2010

By the time we arrived in Bend we had already ridden 5 hours from Toppenish, WA through some of the roughest roads Oregon has to offer. Traffic was fairly light until we reached Madras and things started to back up. It was refreshing to leave early at around 6am and experience the cool crisp air, but eventually we had to remove our liners as the heat of the day started to seep in. I was minding my own business walking with Cheyenne on Bond Street wearing my Pink footwear when a voice called out from a customer of the local… Full Story »

  3. An important date in Bend, Oregon

    bobskoot &bull Jul 22, 2010

Our reason for attending the IBC2010 in Bend, Oregon was to actually meet those whom we have gotten to know on-line. When the plan was first hatched some months ago a few others had made arrangements to also attend. This included GAW from St Louis who was going to arrive by Friday (July 16th). Also with the assistance from Mike, whom kindly secured our rooms at the Bend Inn Suites, who was also arriving on Friday. So my plan was to also arrive on Friday so they both wouldn't be so lonely. I purchased and outfitted my V-strom for touring… Full Story »

  4. SonjaM's extra special day (July 20, 19xx)

    bobskoot &bull Jul 20, 2010

After leaving everyone at the IBC2010 in Bend, Oregon on Sunday we (with my riding buddy SonjaM) headed for Lincoln City for a couple of days to relax, ride, take photos, do nothing . Eventually it was time to leave and we got a late start. We got tired of leaving before 6am and made the decision that we don't leave early for the rest of our vacation. This would turn out to be a big mistake. This morning after the hotel supplied continental breakfast and waffles we hit the saddle at precisely 9:16am and headed north towards the border.… Full Story »

  5. Crocs invade Oregon

    bobskoot &bull Jul 19, 2010

We left Toppenish early in the morning trying to reach Bend in an urgent manner but we did take a little detour from Shaniko to Antelope on our way to Madras. And as we discovered, Oregon probably has the worst roads in the country. They wind all over the place and go every which direction. Sometimes you are led in the opposite direction and are forced to travel more miles and waste gas, unlike freeways which go straight to your destination on the most direct route. I think the contractor must have had shares in the asphalt company as a… Full Story »

  6. Over half way to Bend, Oregon

    bobskoot &bull Jul 16, 2010

We (SonjaM Myself) got an early start this morning. As she lives farther from the US Border than I, we agreed that she should leave earlier. So with text messages frantically going back and forth, she finally left at 4:45am and I followed 15 minutes later. The Peach Arch Border crossing is 45 minutes away and soon we united in Blaine, WA. We were anxious to get some food and nothing was open at that early hour except the usual fast food places which we passed by. At first it appeared to be closed, but it was open and it… Full Story »

  7. Hack sighting & Oregon or bust

    bobskoot &bull Jul 14, 2010

The other night we were visiting a relative in the hospital and were too tired to have a home cooked meal so ended up at an English Pub for a quick dinner. And as I suspected, the sidecar was not made by Norton but it appeared to be very well made and was attached solidly -------------------------------------------------------------------------------Oregon or bust . Well, I've run out of time . I spent the weekend doing chores which included cutting and trimming the lawn and trying to de-weed the walkway. When we replaced our front walkway we decided to install paver stones but the weeds… Full Story »

  8. Virgin Tuesday, BBQ & Birthday Friday:

    bobskoot &bull Jul 11, 2010

Coffee social and Virgin Tuesday: As previously reported, our Urban Riders of Vancouver group is made up from an unlikely assortment of bikes and people. Many have motorcycles but prefer to ride their scooters within the city, while others have large touring machines. Last Tuesday we met at our local Kymco dealer for a quick get-to-gether and a group ride to a local coffee shop. Our engine sizes range from 1,500cc Goldwing to 49cc scooter(s). When other drivers look at us riding in our usual formation they cannot be sure that we are together, or not. Perhaps the motorcycles are… Full Story »

  9. Wee & Nella

    bobskoot &bull Jul 3, 2010

So many things to take care of before our big adventure to Oregon. It has taken me over 2 weeks to get some bike keys cut. It seems that most locksmiths don't open on Saturday . I don't understand their reasoning of only opening from 8am to 5pm on regular work days. Finally, I decided to leave work early on Friday to obtain another ignition key and duplicates for my Kappa (Givi) top/side cases. I was very particular to obtain the generic ones without the huge plastic ends, which are very bulky . It was my idea to give this… Full Story »

  10. Overcast Sunday and a meal or two

    bobskoot &bull Jun 27, 2010

I've been so busy and I'm getting behind. I have lots of raw video to edit and grass to cut but that will have to wait for another day. Today is Family Day Sunday and we have to decide where to have brunch. Yesterday was a fun filled day riding around urban Vancouver which you can read about here Today is about a bit of relaxation, running more errands and enjoying a meal out. First stop was to the swap meet to purchase a cable, 2.5 mm female stereo to 3.5 mm male stereo adapter. I had an idea that… Full Story »
