Turknology, okey mi?
A Scooter in Turkey &bull Jul 18, 2010
There's no doubt that this residency issue has got me discombobulated. I don't need to do anything about it until the beginning of September at the earliest, when my current visa runs out, or January at the latest when my… Full Story »

Goodbye, Turkey?
A Scooter in Turkey &bull Jul 17, 2010
Some friends went over to Meis to renew their visas. You used to be able to get a new 90 day tourist visa by leaving the country for a day and getting a new stamp in your passport on return. This bus had stopped at KaputaA… Full Story »

Moby Dick 3 Maiden Voyage
A Scooter in Turkey &bull Jul 2, 2010

GMail and Google Search are still accessible, but who knows for how much longer. The BBC has a report here. In addition the mayor has put up the barrier on the quayside. It was open when I went down but… Full Story »

A Scooter in Turkey &bull Jun 12, 2010
Scooter traffic is down to a trickle. Those scooterists still around are all wearing helmets. I'm wearing mine. They're doing the same trick as they do with the coastguard. We have our own Jandarma, just as we have own Sahil… Full Story »

Police Crackdown
A Scooter in Turkey &bull Jun 3, 2010
The Jandarma had set up a stop in the village and were checking scooter licences, insurance and helmets. I heard they'd needed a lorry to take away all the scooters they'd confiscated. We were up at Odak getting a post-boat trip coffee. Mrs T got a… Full Story »

A Trip to KaA
A Scooter in Turkey &bull May 26, 2010
I scootered over to KaA so that Mustafa, the director of the school, could copy the pictures I took on the trip to SAtleAen on the school outing. He wants to use some of them in his display for certificate evening on Friday. This Honda Africa Twin was parked at KaputaA beach. Note again the vignetting apparently typical of the Nikon 18-200mm lens at 18mm. I came across Mustafa, his assistant director and another teacher out in front of the old school having a tea and a cigarette. This gave him… Full Story »
